Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Brisk shipping was observed at the Prot Qasim (PQ) where six ships carrying containers, 55,379 tonnes canola seeds, 19,000 tonnes palm oil, 11,350 tonnes chemicals and 62,151 tonnes furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain and Fertilizer Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday, 2nd November.
Meanwhile three more ships carrying Containers, Chemicals and Palm oil also arrived at outer anchorage of PQ during last 24 hours. |
Berth occupancy remained qat the Port at 61 percent on Wednesday where eight ships namely C.V Sea land Michigan, C.V ACX Rafflesia, C.V CMA CGM Puccini, M.V STX Viva, M.T Bow Lima, M.T Mali Bu, M.T Sea Sky and M.T Al-Salam-II were occupied at PQA berths to load/ offload Containers, Canola Seeds, Palm oil, Chemicals, Furnace oil and Diesel oil during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 106,422 tonnes, comprising 83,966 tonnes imports and 22,456 tonnes exports inclusive containerized cargo carried in 5,385 Containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.
C.V ACX Rafflesia sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships C.V CMA CGM Puccini and M.T Mali Bu are expected to sail on same day.
Three ships C.V Nora Maersk, C.V Pisti and M.T North Contender carrying Containers and Chemicals are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on Thursday, 3rd November.
Two ships C.V Dubai Express and M.T Stolt Sun with Containers and Palm oil are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Same day, while three more ships C.V MSC Aanafi, C.V Natalia, C.V Hurst Point are due to arrive on 4th November 2011.
